Hello everyone!
Over the past two months, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming several distinguished guests to our LINCS seminar series and more are about to come. In addition to these regular activities, we also held our Joint LINCS, Sorbonne University, and ANR–Grifin Workshop on AI, Networks & Cybersecurity, which turned out to be a real success.
Looking ahead, we’re working on our two major upcoming events that will be important milestones for our LINCS community : the PhD Student Day and the Annual Workshop with our Scientific Council.
In the meantime, we are also collaborating in the organization of two special events that will take place in october.
We’re also delighted to welcome back one of our long-standing members, Anne Bouillard (Inria), who had taken a short break but is now once again active and full of ideas within the group.
In addition, we’re pleased to introduce a new member of our scientific committee, Nina Taft (Google), whom we’ll have the pleasure of meeting in person during the upcoming workshop.
LINCS major events to save on your agenda :
PhD Student Day, June 25, 2025, Palaiseau
Similar to last year, for those who were there, this day is entirely dedicated to the PhD Students and Postdocs of the LINCS, and it consist of a morning with elevator pitches, posters and brainstorming, followed by a friendly lunch and a team-building activity held outdoors.
The purpose of this day is to provide them with an opportunity to present their work, learn about the research of their peers, and receive valuable feedback from senior members of the LINCS.
All PhD Students and Postdocs are kindly invited to present both a poster and an elevator pitch.
If you need your poster to be printed, please send it to me no later than June 16, as here at Telecom Paris the procedure requires a few days and it is not under my control.
Additionally, this event will serve as practice for those who will be presenting at the upcoming annual workshop in front of the scientific committee, scheduled for July 10 &11.
Fot the team building activity, we are still evaluating, but we are really grateful for the suggestions that some of you sent us.
We would be delighted if you could attend and encourage your students to prepare and participate. Please, fill the form whether your are attending or not… we won’t be able to organise otherwise !
Lincs Annual Workshop with the Scientific Commitee, July 10&11, 2025, Palaiseau
As is tradition, we are pleased to invite you to the 2025 edition of our Annual Workshop with the Scientific Committee : a two-day event taking place on July Tuesday 10 and Friday 11 in Palaiseau, featuring scientific highlights, surveys, elevator pitches, and posters from our scientific community.
In addition, on the evening of the 10th, we are pleased to invite you to a dinner cruise on the river Seine.
Like past years, the 2025 edition will be filled by diffrents kind of talks:
- Talks by scientific committee members
- Scientific Highlights talks by Lincs members, Phd students, postdocs or engineers
- Survey talks by Lincs members
- Elevator pitch & poster session by Phd students & postdocs
To help us organize everything as smoothly as possible, I kindly ask you to fill out this questionnaire whether you plan to attend or not.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to scientific progress and collaboration.
MASCOTS, October 21-23, 2025, Campus Les Cordeliers, Paris, France
The 33rd International Conference on Modelling, Analysis and Simulation of Computer and Telecommunications Systems (https://mascots25.iitis.pl/) will take place in Paris at Sorbonne University.
The LINCS organise the workshop « Towards 6G Communications » that will be held on October 23.
5G systems are now up and running in many countries and various regions across the world, and research is turning its attention towards understanding the full potential and limitations of 5G, defining and investigating relevant test-beds and experimental frameworks, and defining the new frontier of 6G networks. Thus, new and more demanding application areas are being considered, such as Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), Tele-Presence and enhanced reality, Dependable Low Latency Systems that are needed for the Internet of Vehicles and other applications, and massive-scale ubiquitous communications. These developments will be aided by artificial intelligence, quantum communications and new terrestrial and spatial technologied to meet extremely high technical specifications. International bodies such 3GPP and the International Mobile Telecommunications project are already planning for these developments and the next five to six years 2025-2030 will allow us to address these challenges.
This workshop will attract research papers that:
- Investigate the important issues of sustainability, security and network resilience
- Investigate the relevant theoretical and experimental methods
- The wired and wireless technologies that enable massive bandwidth enhancements and connect the unconnected
- Discuss potential technical solutions and usage scenarios
- Investigate the important issues of sustainability, security and network resilience.
Looking back at Joint LINCS / Sorbonne University / ANR – Grifin Workshop on IA, Networks & Cibersecurity
The AI, Networks, and Cybersecurity Workshop, held on April 22 & 23, 2025 was a great success. Jointly organized by LINCS, Sorbonne University, and ANR – Grifin, the event brought together about a dozen senior researchers, eight junior researchers, and an audience of around 50 participants at the Les Cordeliers campus of Sorbonne University.
Over two days, the workshop featured engaging discussions on artificial intelligence, networks, and cybersecurity. It fostered meaningful exchanges between academics, industry professionals, and students, creating a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere. The program combined technical talks with interactive moments such as the poster sessions, emphasizing both depth and accessibility.
Videos of the presentations (for which speakers gave their consent) are available on the event page and in a palylist on our Youtube Channel.

Newcomers

Anne Boullard
While not exactly a newcomer, we’re delighted to announce that our colleague Anne has returned as a permanent member of LINCS. She is currently assistant professor at ENS. She received her Phd from École Normale supérieure de Lyon in 2005. She has been assistant professor at ENS Cachan (Brittany location) and ENS in Paris between 2006 and 2017, and research engineer at Nokia Bell labs France between 2017 and 2019 and at Huawei Technologies France between 2020 and 2025. Her main research interests are discrete event systems, performance evaluation and probabilities, including network calculus. She is the co-author of a recent book on this topic.
Nina Taft
Nina Taft is a Principal Research Scientist at Google and and was recently appointed as a member of the LINCS Scientific Council. She received her PhD from UC Berkeley, and before joining Google, she worked at Technicolor Research, Intel Labs Berkeley, Sprint Labs and SRI. . Over the years, she has worked in the fields of networking protocols, network traffic matrix estimation, Internet traffic modeling and prediction, and intrusion detection. Most recently, her interests lie in applications of machine learning for privacy, developing privacy assistance both for users and developers, and understanding users via large-scale text analyses.

Room Hedy Lamarr (4C06)

As you might know, Hedy Lamarr is the winner of the online survey to name our shared scientific exchange room after a female scientist. She was an Austrian-born American actress (1914 – 2000), inventor of the Frequency-hopping spread spectrum, a technique used in GPS, WIFI, and Bluetooth.
