Landmark events
Hello everyone!
June was a busy and exciting month for our lab, marked by strong participation in key events across Europe. Some of our members attended the annual PEPR Future Networks Days in Bordeaux, contributing to national research discussions, while others took part in EUCNC & 6G in Poznań, bringing LiNCS into the European spotlight, engaging with the European community on the future of communication networks.
Back in Palaiseau, we wrapped up the season’s last reading group, than we hosted a valiant researcher visiting us from overseas, and organized the much-awaited LINCS PhD Student Day, where we had the pleasure of welcoming many new recruits into our community.
Last but not least, we’re currently finalizing the details of the 2025 edition of our annual workshop together with our scientific committee, and we’re counting on your active and enthusiastic participation, as always!

- LINCS Scientific Highlights (15 minutes presentation of your recent works)
- LINCS SURVEY (30 minutes general presentation on one of our lab’s main themes, outlining key research areas and who works on what)
- LINCS PhD Elevator Pitch + Poster (3 minutes presentation followed by Q&A sessions)

PhD Student Day, June 25, 2025, Palaiseau
It was great to see such a fantastic turnout for the second edition of our PhD Day! After a morning dedicated to a fun and engaging team-building activity, we gathered for a shared lunch in the inner garden of Télécom Paris. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a lively series of elevator pitches by students, led and animated by Ludovic Noirie (Nokia Bell Labs) and Francesca Bassi (SystemX), with refreshing breaks in between along with posters, cold drinks, and fresh fruit included!

Newcomers
Alex Pierron
Alex is a PhD student at IP Paris, SAMOVAR Lab, specializing in securing Reinforcement Learning models for Beyond 5G networks as part of the PEPR Future Networks initiative. With a strong background in Mathematics and Physics from Paris-Saclay University, he focuses on expanding the capacities and improving the safety of physical systems managed by Reinforcement Learning algorithms, bridging theory and practice in RL and Multi-Agent RL.
Isra Khaled
Israa is a postdoctoral researcher at Télécom Paris, actively involved in the JEN project within the PEPR Future Networks program. Her current research focuses on the evolution of base station architectures and the accurate modeling of their energy consumption. She obtained her Ph.D. from IMT Atlantique in Brest in 2022, where she also completed a subsequent postdoctoral fellowship. Her expertise includes radio resource management in cellular networks, wake-up radio technologies for sensor networks, and emerging technologies such as massive MIMO and millimeter-wave communications.
Julien Cardinal
Graduated from Centralesupelec in 2025, he is currently preparing his PhD at Inria in the ARGO Team under the supervision of Ana Bušić. He studies control techniques and algorithms for energy networks. In particular, he is developing distributed control algorithms, combining mean field approximation, optimal transport, and reinforcement learning.
Shu Li
Shu is a PhD candidate at Inria Paris, affiliated with Argo at ENS PSL University. His research focuses on online algorithms, online learning, and graph theory. Prior to his PhD, he obtained both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics. His work has been published in Linear Algebra and Its Applications, Advances in Mathematics, Algebra Colloquium, and other peer-reviewed journals. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals in mathematics and computer science, and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Advances in Technology and Engineering.
Zeynep Arslan
Zeynep is currently pursuing a master’s in Computer Science at Sorbonne Université. As part of her internship, she is contributing to the development of Iris v2, a next-generation internet routing survey system at LIP6 laboratory. The data collected by Iris is published to Measurement Lab, an international consortium focused on internet performance. Zeynep’s work involves architectural planning and implementation within the system. Her broader interests include systems resilience, distributed orchestration and cloud-to-edge systems.
Ayou Pang
Aoyu Pang is currently undertaking a research internship at Nokia Bell Labs, working under the guidance of Calvin Chen, focusing on advanced machine learning applications in communication networks. He is also a PhD student who began his doctoral studies in 2023 in Computer and Information Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, supervised by Professor Simon Pun. His research interests include Intelligent Transportation Systems, Reinforcement Learning, and Air-Ground Integrated Networks. Aoyu received his Bachelor degree from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2023. Aoyu has published or submitted multiple journal and conference papers in the fields of intelligent transportation and air-ground integrated mobility, including IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC).

Lab’s life
We keep on sharing many convivial moments, from pizza after the reading groups to coffee before seminars and we also found better cakes ! But we didn’t think to take pictures because we were too focused on enjoying the moment!
Room Hedy Lamarr (4C06)
As you might know, Hedy Lamarr is the winner of the online survey to name our shared scientific exchange room after a female scientist. She was an Austrian-born American actress (1914 – 2000), inventor of the Frequency-hopping spread spectrum, a technique used in GPS, WIFI, and Bluetooth.
